Introducing
Scoring Mastery
Find out what's inside
Scoring Mastery is a self-paced, practice based course for musicians, producers and composers who are comfortable in a DAW and excited to break into the world of scoring.
It's designed to help you make significant strides in your scoring in a really short amount of time.
Get clear scoring insight from a working composer who understands what the industry actually demands.
Master multiple scoring styles through hands-on assignments that reflect real professional projects.
Learn at your own pace and on your own schedule, and repeat assignments as often as you like to truly refine your skill.
When I began working as a Film Composer, one specific thing marked a breakthrough for me - helping me understand how to determine the right music for any scene, and helping me make dramatic progress in a short amount of time:
Practicing with original pieces of visual media
This helped me understand how to use music in a way that was really locked-in with the visuals, that enhanced the key moments in a scene and really supported - rather than competed with - the visual media.
I learned how to sharpen my focus on the unique needs of each scene, and get skilled in elevating the storytelling, all while creating an effective and quality score.
I created Scoring Mastery to help you get this same kind of breakthrough - but I've added something more:
Specific analysis of each scene to teach you how to know what is really happening at any point, when music is actually needed - and where you might leave music out.
This is invaluable. The visuals are everything. When you can truly read what is happening in a scene, you are primed to create music that really works.
This direction means you can develop your internal understanding of where you need to emphasize, where to hold back, and where silence speaks louder. These are the building blocks of confident, professional scoring.
This is what Scoring Mastery is all about - guiding you to advance your skills and build your confidence - whether your focus is scoring for film/TV, ads, corporate projects, children's programming, worship ceremonies or anything else.

Meet Your Guide
Aoife O’Leary
Aoife O’Leary is a film composer and music producer from Dublin, Ireland.
She has co-scored four full-length movies, including Hulu’s #1 hit, Cult Killer (starring Antonio Banderas), and the crime/action/comedy Guns Up, starring Kevin James and Christina Ricci.
Aoife did all of this without being able to read or write music, with no formal music education background and without being able to play an instrument.
She created Intro to Scoring to support fellow creatives and producers, who may not have a conservatory background, as they navigate their own path into the exciting world of scoring.
With Scoring Mastery, Aoife has created a self-paced, practise-based course designed to help emerging composers accelerate building their skill and confidence scoring in multiple genres.
